This is the web site for the 70th Air Refueling Squadron Association, , that was stationed at Little Rock AFB from 1955 to 1963.
Our Association is open to anyone assigned or attached to Little Rock AFB during that time or assigned to the 70 Air Refueling Squadron at any time to the present. There are no dues or fees. We operate solely on contributions from our members. We try to publish a quick reference roster every year for each of our active members. The quick reference roster list all known members, their address and phone number. Our last complete roster was published in 1993.
The squadron was formed in 1955 when Little Rock AFB was opened, See the 70th History page. It performed various missions until it changed over to KC-135's in 1963. Our primary mission was refueling the RB-47's and B-47's stationed with us at Little Rock AFB.
The first aircraft was the KC-97G. Click (KC-97G) for the specifications, tail numbers and the Crew Chiefs assigned to the 70th Air Refueling Squadron.
The 70th OMS was formed from the 6th, 26th, 61st and the 70th Tanker maintenance squadron of the 70th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. The four squadrons were combined to form the 70th Organizational Maintenance Squadron (OMS).
Dave Roberts started this just to keep in touch with friends and as a Christmas mailing list. He kept the roster for 20 years by hand. Since then I have taken over and tried to keep it up.
Jack Loomis was the prime mover of the first nine of our reunions. All of our reunions have been successful to date with the next one being sometime in 2005. The actual date will depend on what Little Rock ABF has planned, if anything, for the 50th anniversity of the base.If you belonged to the 70th AREFS, 70TH SRW, or the 384th BW contact us and join the fun, visit old friends, and make new ones. Look over the list of active members and see if you know anyone, if you do contact me.
