Joe was born on December 8, 1924, in Turkey, TX. but spent most of his childhood years in Nashville, AR. He left this life to be with the Lord on Friday, October 20, 2006. Joe served his country proudly in the U.S.A.F. and retired as SMSgt. after twenty-six years. His tour of duty included WWII, Viet Nam, and the Korean Conflict. He was an All State football player in Nashville, AR. in 1942, was an avid golfer, loved gardening, and sharing the fruits of his garden with family and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. and Emma Ross; two brothers; and three sisters. Left to cherish his memory are his high-school sweetheart, whom he married in 1942, Mrs. Pauline (Nell) Ross; daughters, Martha Ward and husband, Ted; Nancy Elkins and husband, Boyce; sons, Larry Ross and wife, Cynthia; Robert (Bob) Ross and wife, Melanie; sisters, Marie Thornton, Dorothy Hill, Cleo Wright, and Mildred Sherrod; grandchildren, David Webre, Ted Ward, Jr., Larry Ross, Jr., Paula Jo Davis, Kathy Moore, Kelcie Ross, and Kevin Pohle; and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the Alexandria V.A. Home and Hospital for all of their compassion and care. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research, or the charity of choice. Joe's smile could light up a room, and we'll miss him with all our hearts. "He was the BEST Daddy ever!"
